Easter Mass celebrated in cities around the world amid pandemic

The faithful in cities across the globe came together on Sunday to celebrate Easter Mass, though with restrictions in place due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

In Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, a mass was held at the foot of the city’s iconic Christ the Redeemer statue.

Followers in Jerusalem celebrated the resurrection of Jesus Christ with a service at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

Meanwhile, many other services were held in cities around the world, including a prayer service at the National Mall in Washington D.C., and in Manila, Philippines, where faithful gathered outside churches that were closed because of the pandemic.
