Some of the people who fled the violence in Ituri, northeastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, have come home only to find a harsh reality awaiting them.
Various armed groups have buried landmines everywhere as they retreated, and some parents have had to bury their children as a result.
A state of emergency was declared in the region in early May and the army began battling rebels, but the situation has not improved for those living there.

Al Jazeera’s Catherine Soi reports from Irumu Territory, in northeastern DR Congo.
