On Monday, Peter Stano, the spokesperson for the European Union (EU) Commission, expressed concern over a recent shootout in north Kosovo that resulted in the death of four people.

"We need to find the way out of the constant crises and go back to normal problem-solving through dialogue because de-escalation is urgently needed," Stano said.

The incident occurred on Sunday when a group of ethnic Serb gunmen stormed the village of Banjska, engaging in a violent confrontation with the police. They barricaded themselves inside a Serbian Orthodox monastery, which the police were able to retake later that day, resulting in the death of three attackers and one police officer.

On Sunday, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti accused Serbia of financing and sending armed men to Kosovo, while Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has denied the allegations and instead blamed Kurti for inciting violence by refusing to form an association of Serb municipalities for more autonomy and frequently launching police actions in the north.
