People in Bangladesh rushed to a ferry terminal on Monday about 40 km ahead of a strict coronavirus lockdown set to come into effect on July 1.

Offices will be closed and there will be restrictions on movement during the lockdown across the country.

Officials have not said when the measures would end.

Bangladesh has recorded more than 888,400 COVID-19 cases and 14,170 deaths, according to the health ministry.
