Canada's oilsands continue to be ravaged by COVID-19, with more than a dozen active outbreaks in northern Alberta – a province already seeing some of the worst infections rates in the country.

The Canadian Natural Resource's Horizon site remains the biggest outbreak there, with nearly 1,500 COVID-19 cases and three related deaths.

On top of the threat of the virus, workers caught in that outbreak are now alleging that the conditions on site are unsafe.

As Heather Yourex-West reports, photos obtained by Global News show cramped living spaces with a lack of sanitation items.
