An independent panel in the U.S. is endorsing Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine, which means it’s now up to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to approve it for emergency use.
The move comes as the coronavirus death toll in the U.S. surpassed 300,000 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University. And multiple states are still reporting surges in cases.
As Jennifer Johnson reports, approval would mean millions of doses of the vaccine could be shipped as early as this weekend.
