The U.S. is one step closer to having a COVID-19 vaccine distributed throughout the country after an independent advisory panel to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommended the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine for emergency use, which could result in full FDA approval as early as Friday.

The panel spent hours reviewing data from manufacturers.

It comes as the country saw its deadliest day so far in the pandemic with more than 3,000 Americans having died within 24 hours. Jennifer Johnson reports on the next steps.
