Coronavirus: The risk to the NHS without a lockdown in England

Sir Patrick Vallance and Prof Chris Whitty explained the need for a lockdown and warned of a second wave even deadlier than the first.

The NHS said daily hospital COVID-19 admissions are now higher than on 23 March when the Prime Minister announced the first lockdown.

Some patients worry that their non-COVID medical treatments may be postponed if hospitals are overwhelmed.
