The entire province of Manitoba will move into "Level Red" or critical on Thursday with renewed restrictions aimed at curbing the surging coronavirus second wave.

There will be no social gatherings allowed, said Dr. Brent Roussin, the province’s Chief Public Health Officer.

“These next few weeks will be difficult for many,” he said.

The City of Winnipeg closed all city-run outdoor recreation amenities Tuesday in preparation for the province-wide COVID-19 lockdown coming later this week.

Manitoba’s COVID-19 caseload continued its triple-digit daily climb Tuesday, with 384 new cases identified and five additional deaths reported.

The new cases bring Manitoba’s total number of reported cases to 8,878 and the province’s COVID-19 death toll to 114.
