Two years since the so-called Islamic State was finally defeated in Syria, thousands of ISIS foreign fighters, along with their wives and children, remain in legal limbo.
They're the world's most unwanted - many are held in custody in Kurdish detention camps in northeastern Syria, including a number of Canadians.
The Canadian government has so far refused to repatriate them to face charges in Canada - and the RCMP says it's too dangerous to travel to Syria to interview them. Instead, as Jeff Semple explains, police are gathering evidence from Global News.
