Two Canadian women who have been in a camp for ISIS detainees in northeast Syria for more than three years are believed to be returning to Canada on Tuesday.

Sources say one of the women is British Columbia native Kimberly Polman, who spoke to Global News at the detention camp back in 2019. The other woman is said to be from Quebec and has two children with her.

More than a dozen Canadians were captured by U.S.-backed Kurdish fighters in Syria during the fight against ISIS. Ottawa had refused to repatriate them — and the Minister of Public Safety wasn't saying what role the government had in the women's release.

Global’s Mercedes Stephenson has the details.
