Canada wildfires: How will smoke affect health of Canadians?

As winds shift, wildfire smoke from B.C. and the Northwest Territories is expected to make its way across the prairie provinces, potentially heading further east.

In Vancouver, thick smoke is wafting in from fires in the interior, with waves of smoke spreading across the western provinces, all the way to the east coast.

Experts say wildfire smoke can have dire effects on people with existing health conditions, children and the elderly — but ultimately affecting everyone.

As the climate changes, the intensity of this season is only expected to get worse. Katherine Ludwig takes a look at the impacts on the health of Canadians.
