Biden announces $800M in new military aid for Ukraine amid Donbas offensive | FULL

U.S. President Joe Biden announced on Thursday morning an additional $800 million in new military aid to help Ukraine fight back against Russia’s renewed invasion in the Donbas region.

The president said equipment being sent to Ukraine would include heavy artillery weapons, “dozens of howitzers” and 144,000 rounds of ammunition, as well as tactical drones.

Biden also announced an additional $500 million in economic aid to Ukraine that would help the government stabilize the economy, support communities devastated by war and pay workers providing essential services as the Russian invasion continues.

Finally, Biden introduced a new program to allow Ukrainians to enter the U.S. directly from Europe and announced that the U.S. would ban all Russian-affiliated ships from U.S. ports.
