Several families in Iraq held funerals to bury their loved ones Sunday after at least 82 people died in a hospital fire in Baghdad Saturday night that broke out in an intensive care unit that was treating severe coronavirus patients. Another 110 people were also injured.

One young man who had been visiting his uncle, who he considered a father, said that instead of being released Sunday after recovering, instead the family was burying him. He said he and his uncle had fallen unconscious from smoke inhalation and when he awoke, he had been taken from the hospital but his uncle was later found by a family member in the morgue of another hospital.

Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi on Sunday announced he had suspended the minister of health and the governor of Baghdad and fired several key hospital officials, and called for an investigation into the incident with findings due in five days. Sean Previl reports.
