Brazil hospital evacuates after fire breaks out, at least 1 dead

Patients were evacuated from a hospital in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Oct. 27 after a fire broke out. According to reports, a patient in the COVID-19 intensive care unit died as she was evacuated from the Bonsucesso Federal Hospital in Rio's north.

Local media reported that the fire started in a warehouse of the hospital.
Twenty-five patients were evacuated to other medical facilities, eight of whom were receiving treatment for COVID-19, while 170 patients were moved to other areas of the hospital.

The fire has been brought under control and investigations are underway into what started the fire.
