Devastating earthquakes, including one of magnitude 6.3, hit Afghanistan Saturday, killing at least 2,050 and injuring even more.

Hemmed in by mountains, Afghanistan has a history of strong earthquakes, many in the rugged Hindu Kush region bordering Pakistan.

Ten rescue teams were in the area bordering Iran to rescue victims and impacted families and provide relief operations to impacted families, according to disaster ministry spokesperson Janan Sayeeq.

The tremor is the biggest natural disaster to rock Afghanistan in years.
