White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki defended U.S. President Joe Biden’s handling of the troop withdrawal from Afghanistan on Tuesday.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley, testified before Congress that the U.S. missed warning signs about the coming failure of "leadership and will" in its Afghan allies that ultimately led to their collapse and the Taliban takeover on Aug. 15th.

Asked whether Biden misled the American public about the advice of his military advisors, Psaki quoted Biden during an interview with George Stephanopoulos as saying that his advisor’s “were split” on how the situation should be handled and by how many troops.

"I’m not going to go into specific details about who recommended what,” Psaki said when pressed about which military advisors had contradictory viewpoints.
