U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken defended the country's withdrawal of its military from Afghanistan during a sometimes heated hearing of the House Foreign Relations Committee over what many consider a chaotic end to America's longest war.

Blinken weighed in on what it would take to keep forces in Afghanistan, questioning if the 20 years and the billions of dollars of support, equipment and training "did not suffice, why would another year, another five, another 10."

There was also a heated exchange between Florida Rep. Brian Mast and Chairman Gregory Meeks as the former appeared to accuse the Biden administration of "manipulating intelligence" and would not hear Blinken's response. As Blinken attempted to reply, Mast said he did not want to hear the response and said the secretary "lies to us when he steps in front of the camera."
