14 people have been killed and over 170 are still missing, after a part of a glacier burst in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district on Sunday, triggering an avalanche and a deluge in the Alaknanda river system that washed away hydroelectric stations and five bridges. Was it a glacial lake burst that led to the massive flooding and was it the impact of climate change or "development"? Scientists will investigate what triggered the sudden surge of water in Chamoli. In other news, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to reply to the debate on motion of thanks on the President's address in the Rajya Sabha today. With expelled AIADML leader VK Sasikala set to return to Chennai today, the AIADMK is jittery and has warned of riots. In his first election rally in West Bengal, PM Modi attacked Mamata Banerjee, saying Bengal will show her the "Ram card" soon.
