“Very excited:” Parents react as US begins vaccinating kids against COVID-19

Parents at a vaccination site in Pennsylvania were excited for their children to get the COVID-19 vaccines on Wednesday, after the US began administering shots for kids between 5 and 11 years old.

"I wouldn't say worried, but just anxiously waiting and excited and hopeful for, you know, more of a return to normal," said Amy Torrence, a mother of two boys, after they got their first doses at a clinic in Skippack, Pennsylvania.

CDC’s recommendation for the age group came four days after it was authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Only a limited amount of the initial 15 million shots being distributed will be available on Wednesday.

They are expected to be more widely accessible at pediatrician's offices, children's hospitals and pharmacies next week.
