According to the United Nations, nearly 5 million people have fled Ukraine because of Russia's invasion. Many have decided to make the journey to Canada, with about 120,000 approved to come to the country.

And this week, the province of New Brunswick welcomed the newest arrivals – 170 people and 17 pets.

Jeff Semple followed some of them to hear how they left behind loved ones, their heartbreak for their homeland and their hopes for what lies ahead.
