Young workers face toughest summer job market in years, analysts say

Finding a summer job has been particularly challenging for students this year.

Analysts say it's a sign of the economic times, as employers are cutting back on hiring and promoting young workers.

The latest jobless rate for people between the ages of 15 and 24 climbed to 13.5 per cent, which is the highest in a decade, outside the initial pandemic crash, according to Statistics Canada.
