Russian president Vladimir Putin has made a ceasefire offer to Ukraine to end the war - demanding that Kyiv withdraw troops from provinces claimed Moscow and not join NATO.

Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Putin's terms were "tantamount to surrender", and the kind of language used by Adolf Hitler.
