The last 16 months have been challenging for a lot of Canadian business owners trying to operate amid changing COVID-19 restrictions and lockdowns. The National Aboriginal Capital Corporations Association, the National Indigenous Economic Development Board and the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business conducted studies looking into how Indigenous businesses performed during the pandemic. They found that 72 per cent needed more financial support. The government has been offering relief funds, but not everyone qualifies – including many indigenous business owners.
