White House press briefing as Biden administration continues rollback of Trump-era policies | FULL

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki along with National Economic Council Director Brian Deese held a press briefing on Friday afternoon, where they discussed the new Biden administration's economic priorities amid the pandemic.

Deese gave a rundown of on an executive order President Joe Biden will sign regarding the jobs of federal workers and contractors, including requiring federal contractors to pay at least US$15 minimum wage and provide emergency paid leave to workers. He also outlined the details of another executive order the president will sign regarding the "growing crisis" of food insecurity in the country, including Biden asking the Department of Agriculture to consider taking "immediate steps" to provide nutrition assistance to hard-hit families.

Deese also talked about the Biden administration's "rescue plan" for Americans suffering the downturn of the U.S. economy due to the coronavirus pandemic, stating the country is at "a precarious moment for the virus and the economy" and without "decisive action," there is a risk of falling into a "serious economic hole," he said.

Plus, Psaki on said since the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection, the Biden administration is working to deliver fact-based policies on combatting domestic violent extremism.
