Fans of Brazilian soccer legend Pelé mourned him on Thursday after it was announced he had died at the age of 82, with many saying it was like losing a family member.
"Pelé, for us, was not just a Santos' player. Pelé was a part of our life," said soccer fan Everton Lucio. "Feels like we're losing a family member. Who didn't dream of being Pelé."
FIFA officials, world leaders and former soccer players also paid tribute. FIFA President Gianni Infantino said the 82-year-old was "forever with us" because of what he did for the sport.
