Former President Donald Trump said his historic hush money trial was “rigged” and a “disgrace” after a jury found him guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business records.

“I’m a very innocent man,” Trump said to a gaggle of reporters outside of the courtroom.

The unprecedented verdict made Trump the first president in U.S. history to be convicted on criminal charges. The trial focused on payments made by Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen to cover up politically damaging stories about the then-candidate during the 2016 presidential election.

He also attacked Judge Juan Merchan as “corrupt,” and said the case against him was politically motivated by President Joe Biden’s administration to “hurt … a political opponent.”

“The real verdict is going to be Nov. 5, by the people," he said, referring to the presidential election.
