To musical duo Louis York, singer-songwriter Tracy Chapman has been a longtime influence, but her self-titled debut has become even more important to the band during the time of COVID-19.

In particular, band member Chuck Harmony said the song “Talkin' Bout a Revolution” reflects how he has felt while dealing with the pandemic and being separated from his family.

“Songs from the heart, real songs, real messages are what’s helping us through right now,” Claude Kelley, the other half of Louis York, told the PBS NewsHour.

In a year of crisis, here are the songs that some artists have turned to to bring them comfort or joy. Listen to the Spotify playlist here: https://spoti.fi/3r2sNFY
