Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., spoke at the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden Wednesday morning. She addressed the riot at the U.S. Capitol that occurred just two weeks prior on Jan. 6, where a mob unsuccessfully attempted to stop the electoral vote certification.
“This is the day when our democracy picks itself up, brushes off the dust and does what America always does: Goes forward as a nation under god, indivisible with liberty and justice for all,” Klobuchar said.
She said the inauguration represents celebrations of democracy, the American people and the historical significance of Kamala Harris’ vice presidency as the first African American, Asian American and first woman in the office.
