US top military officials say more US troops are arriving to secure Kabul airport for additional evacuation flights and they intend to get all Americans out of Afghanistan.
Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs General Mark Milley spoke to the media on Wednesday for the first time since the Taliban captured Kabul.
Kabul airport was up and running on Tuesday after an overwhelming number of Afghan civilians tried to board departing planes leading to the closure of the facility on Monday.
But Austin said American troops have no jurisdiction beyond the Kabul airport perimeter.
