US President Joe Biden has secured a win for his expensive plans to regenerate America. In a late-night vote on Friday, the House of Representatives passed a one-trillion-dollar infrastructure bill to fund programs including road and bridge-building and faster internet access. But an even bigger package covering welfare and environmental spending remains stalled by in-fighting. Biden canceled a weekend trip in an attempt to unite his divided Democratic Party.
