Umar Zameer's not-guilty verdict raises questions about fairness of justice system

The recent verdict of not guilty for Umar Zameer, who was accused of fatally running over a Toronto police officer, has sparked concerns about the fairness of the justice system.

There are bound to be questions asked of officials such as the Attorney General about why charges were initially laid, Premier Ford about his initial comments on Zameer being a "heinous criminal" and being granted bail, and Chief Demikiw about the allegations of collusion between the testifying officers that have arisen.

This verdict is prompting many discussions about the role of evidence and due process in the criminal justice system.
