In a Toronto courtroom on Sunday, Umar Zameer was found not guilty of first-degree murder in the death of Cst. Jeffry Northrup. The case revolved around whether Zameer had intended to hit Northrup with his car and whether he knew that Northrup and his partner were police officers.

During the trial, video evidence and testimony from crash reconstruction experts contradicted testimony from three witness police officers about Northrup's position at the time he was hit. The defence also alleged that the officers repeatedly lied under oath, a claim echoed by the judge, who warned the jury to watch out for possible collusion.

Former Crown attorney and now defense lawyer Michael Coristine sheds light on the role of video evidence in the trial and the allegations of collusion.
