UK's Sunak calls on countries to "double-down" on support for Ukraine

Speaking at the Munich Security Conference on Saturday, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak called on world leaders to "double-down" in their support for Ukraine, saying additional arms and security guarantees were needed to protect the country as its war with Russia nears the one-year mark.

Sunak highlighted Britain's own recent commitments to Ukraine to provide battle tanks, advanced air defence systems and longer-range missiles, while urging other nations to follow suit.

“We are united in our determination to ensure Ukraine succeeds and that Russia fails, and I want everyone to follow our lead in giving Ukraine that support," Sunak said.

The British prime minister also called on NATO to provide long-term security guarantees for Ukraine, saying it was necessary to protect the eastern European country from future Russian aggression and protect the system of international rules.
