Russia's heaviest round of missile strikes on Ukraine in several months comes on the eve of a major NATO summit in Washington.

The summit in the US will involve the leaders of all 32 NATO states, including Joe Biden and new UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, and is expected to heavily focus on Ukraine.

Russia claims it was targeting military manufacturing sites and air force spaces. Ukraine's President Zelenskyy has vowed to retaliate.
