Nato Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg has said Ukraine is "closer to Nato than ever before", during a news conference with President Zelensky.

He went on to say the accession process is being shortened, and Ukraine "will become a member", but gave no clear timeline for when this would happen.

President Zelensky says Nato has given a powerful signal to Russia that Ukraine will be an independent state.

Nato's 2023 Summit in Vilnius continues in Lithuania.
