Ukraine has appealed to western allies to give it the heavy weapons it desperately needs.

But tonight they are no closer - with no decision from Germany over whether to allow its Leopard 2 tanks to be supplied to Ukraine.

Allied leaders meeting at Ramstein Air Base did pledge a lot more military support - but there was a stark warning from Poland: "Ukrainian blood is shed for real - this is the price of hesitation over Leopard delivery".
