After West pledges battle tanks, Zelenskyy says Ukraine needs long-range missiles
Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Saturday that Ukraine “needs long-range missiles” to pre-empt Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities.

Zelenskyy said Ukraine needed the U.S.-made ATACMS missile, which has a range of 297 kilometres, but Washington D.C. has so far declined to comment on his request.

Zelenskyy said in a video address that such equipment would “deprive the occupier of the opportunity to place its missile launchers somewhere far from the front line and destroy Ukrainian cities.”

Ukraine has secured promises for hundreds of Western battle tanks from countries, including Canada, and is seeking fighter jets to push back against Russian and pro-Moscow forces that are slowly advancing along parts of the front line.
