Schools across Uganda reopened last week, for the first time since March 2020.
The government in the East African country wanted to keep schools closed until COVID-19 vaccination rates increased. But while a quarter of Ugandans have had at least one vaccine, only about three per cent have received two doses.
As Redmond Shannon reports, it’s estimated approximately one-third of Ugandan students will never return to the classroom.
