The American scientist who is bleeding internally and trapped in one of the deepest caves in the world is getting closer and closer to being freed. Over 190 rescuers are in Turkey attempting to bring Mark Dickey to the surface after he became ill over nine days ago.

Working tediously around the clock, rescue teams have successfully carried the 40-year-old scientist on a stretcher from the depths of the Morca cave to a camp about 100 meters below the surface.

A medical team descended and gave Dickey blood transfusions. But the operation to get him out is slow and arduous, while the cave is very cold and pitch black, with water-filled chambers and steep vertical drops. Rescuers are using explosives to blast open the narrowest passages to make enough room for Dickey's stretcher to get through.
