Tulsa hospital shooting: Gunman who killed 4 targeted doctor who treated him, police say | FULL

Authorities provided a detailed timeline of events after a man armed with a semi-automatic rifle and a handgun killed four people inside a medical building in Tulsa, Okla., on Wednesday before he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said, in the latest of a series of mass shootings to rattle the United States.

Police have identified the suspect as Michael Lewis, and his motive was found in a letter on his body, which "made it clear" that he intended to kill his doctor whom he blamed for the pain he experienced after back surgery on May 19.

"He began firing at anyone in his way," Tulsa Police Chief Wendell Franklin said at the news conference.

In addition to the four fatalities, also identified, several others were injured.

Lewis purchased the firearms legally - the AR-15 rifle an hour or so before the mass shooting at a local gun store and the pistol at a local pawn shop several days prior.

Wednesday's incident in Tulsa came on the heels of mass shootings that have reignited debates about gun control. Two weeks before the Uvalde shooting, a gunman killed 10 people at a supermarket in a racist attack in Buffalo, N.Y.
