The second impeachment trial of now-former U.S. president Donald Trump ended much like the first on Saturday, with Trump being acquitted of the single charge of inciting an insurrection.

Impeachment managers worked to convince Republicans rhetoric linked to a lie about the 2020 presidential election resulted in the attack on the Capitol building, while Trump's defence lawyers focused more on process and that he was the target of a "smear" and "constitutional cancel culture."
