Prime Minister Justin Trudeau vowed Tuesday that his government would continue to work with the international community to hold Iran accountable for the shoot-down of Ukrainian Airlines flight PS752 in 2020, as well as the ongoing "repression of its own people" and the recent death of Mahsa Amini that sparked worldwide protests.
He said they would further punish the "brutal and bloodthirsty regime," a day after Canada issued new sanctions over Amini's death while in the custody of Iran's so-called morality police last month for reportedly wearing her hijab too loosely.
On Monday, Ottawa sanctioned nine entities and 25 individuals, including senior Iranian officials and members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
