The federal government’s health care offer is much less than the premiers and territorial leaders were looking for to fix the crisis unfolding in hospitals across the country.

‘The West Block’ host Mercedes Stephenson put some tough questions to Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Dominic LeBlanc, one of the architects of the deal, about what this new funding will really do for Canadians struggling to access the health care they’ve been promised and what solutions the government is willing to take.

Plus, there have been plenty of political reactions to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s health-care offer, but it seems like the only consensus from the opposition leaders is that it is not good enough. Stephenson sits down with The Globe and Mail’s Ottawa bureau chief Robert Fife and Stephanie Levitz from The Toronto Star to talk about the strategies Trudeau, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh and Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre are using to navigate ongoing health-care discussions.
