Former U.S. president Donald Trump is facing 34 felony charges related to hush-money payments allegedly made during his 2016 election and allegations of falsifying business records, making him the first American president in history charged with a crime. Trump pleaded not guilty and said prosecutors lack evidence. But regardless of how the case plays out, America is in uncharted territory. "The West Block" host Mercedes Stephenson speaks with Rick Wilson, co-founder of The Lincoln Project, and Sean Spicer, former White House press secretary under Trump, about what this means for the future of U.S. politics and whether the Republican Party will have to shift gears ahead of the 2024 election.

Plus, for the first time since the Apollo program more than 50 years ago, NASA is planning to send astronauts on a lunar mission. Scheduled to lift off in November 2024, the 10-day mission named Artemis II will send four astronauts – including one Canadian – around the moon. Those on board may well travel further into deep space than any human has in history. Stephenson speaks with Jeremy Hansen, the Canadian astronaut serving on Artemis II, about the future of deep space exploration.
