As Ukraine presses its counteroffensive against Russian occupying forces in the south, Moscow’s doing some nuclear muscle flexing, conducting military exercises simulating response to a nuclear attack and accusing Kiev of planning to launch one. Russian forces in the southern region around Kherson have been moving injured people and civilians out of the city, but it’s unclear whether the troops themselves are bracing for battle or preparing to flee. Meanwhile, Moscow claims Kiev’s getting ready to detonate a “dirty” bomb laced with radioactive material – a charge Ukrainian leaders deny, saying Russia’s describing its own intentions.
