A wing of a three-storey building in Kyiv was reduced to rubble in a Russian missile attack on Monday morning. Officials said it wounded at least seven people and saw missile debris fall in three other parts of the city.

Andriy Yermak, the Ukrainian president's chief of staff, said Russia and its president were "terrorists" in response to the attack, comparing them to ISIS, which claimed responsibility for a deadly terror attack in Moscow on Friday.

"This is a residential area, and an educational facility. There are no military entities here, so the only explanation for this (attack) is terrorism, nothing else," Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said.

Barista Maria Yevstafieva narrowly escaped from major injuries — or possibly death — when the window of the café she was working in, blew towards her after the strike hit nearby.
