Switch Health accused of fumbling Canada’s COVID-19 border testing

As hundreds of thousands of international travellers continue to arrive in Canada every month, a Toronto-area startup company, Switch Health, is at the heart of efforts to ensure people get tested for COVID-19 before entering the country.

But many travellers say the company is struggling to keep up with the demand, fumbling its management of the program, and potentially opening the door to new COVID-19 outbreaks originating with those who didn’t know they were infected.

The government awarded the contract to Switch Health in support of new requirements that took effect on Feb. 22 for non-essential international travellers to get tested in Canada upon arrival.
