South Africa’s government has tightened COVID-19 restrictions to fight a third wave, which is expected to be worse than the last one in some areas.
The army has been deployed to assist doctors in the most populous province of Gauteng, where nearly two-thirds of the country's active cases have been reported.
Hospitals are under pressure and oxygen supplies are running short.
