South Africa has lifted its midnight to 4 a.m. curfew, declaring that the country has passed the peak of its fourth COVID-19 wave.

With close to 3.5 million infections and 91,000 deaths, South Africa has been the worst-hit country in Africa during the pandemic.

News that COVID-19 cases have peaked is welcome news for countries like Canada, which are still in the midst of a Omicron-driven fourth wave. Redmond Shannon reports.
